January 2021
Dear PACC Members,
We hope this communication finds you and your families both healthy and well. Like you, the Board of Governors and staff are excited to welcome 2021. Notably, in March of this year your Club will celebrate its ninetieth anniversary. Many of us remember planning for the Club’s 75th Anniversary; where has the time gone?!
Looking ahead, the PACC Executive Committee remains resolute in seeing that the Club is financially sound and will be able to continue serving you and your children far into the future. In close coordination with our staff, we attempted to successfully navigate our way through an unprecedented pandemic. The playing field consisted of ever-changing grains of sand. Now that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, given one or more vaccines are now being deployed around the country, we have had an opportunity to reflect on 2020 and how we can learn and possibly benefit from the events of last year.
First, we would like to thank all of members who supported the Club in any way they could in 2020. From ordering takeout food, to coming out for dinner once we reopened, to supporting the Club’s Holiday Fund, we recognize your steadfast loyalty to the staff of this historic club. It was an extremely heartwarming event to tally the 2020 Holiday Fund. Many of us realize what a special place PACC is, but it is always great to get a REAL reminder from time-to-time. We would be remiss if we did not also acknowledge all of you who renewed your annual membership even though we were closed for a portion of the year. Another welcomed example of your unwavering support.
One of things that we garnered from all the turmoil that transpired was that many of you came out and utilized the swimming pool and the tennis court. This enabled us to really understand how important the Club can be during a stressful time in our country’s history. As such, the Executive Committee has begun the process of planning improvements of these two elements of our facility. We intend to seek Township approval for a small multi-use building that would consist of restroom facility/cabana/snack bar/seating area. Should we be granted consent to move forward with this project, we plan to happily remove the portable toilet and changing room shed.
The two shade trees by the pool are nearing the end of their life. Once a structure is built, we would remove the two existing trees and replant something in their place. We understand the importance of having shade near the pool and the new structure will offer cover until newly planted trees mature. We also intend to resurface the existing tennis court and add a pickleball overlay. Again, we were struck at how the tennis court was utilized last year, and the time has come to improve on what we have.
Further, as a small acknowledgement to our devout members, we agreed that there will not be any dues increase in the year 2021, despite our intention to augment our facility. It has been our practice to modestly raise our annual dues arrangement every year, but we would like to extend a small thank you to all of you who stood by the Club and supported our staff during a tumultuous period.
In closing, we remain proud of our unique Club, our capable staff, and our faithful members. Your support and patronage over the course of the last twelve months has served to renew our commitment to both the organization and staff. As each day passes, we are brought one step closer to a return to normal social activities at a place we have all come to know and love. We wish you all a happy and HEALTHY New Year!
Respectfully: PACC Executive Committee
