The Board of Governors has elected to adopt an alcohol service policy. Not only is it important to be in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, but suitable alcohol service is paramount in maintaining an appropriate atmosphere at the Club.
The Club will not serve alcohol to anyone under the age of twenty-one. In addition, our license only permits us to sell alcohol beverages that are to be consumed at our premises. Therefore, any alcoholic beverages purchased at the Club cannot be taken from the Club. In addition, the Club will not serve alcohol to any member or guest who is either intoxicated or appears to be intoxicated. There will be no exceptions to these rules.
It will be the responsibility of the General Manager to enforce this policy and see that the bartenders, waiters and waitresses enforce the rules. Should an individual be called into question, the staff person should notify the most senior employee on duty. The manager on duty is responsible for making a determination as to the level of intoxication and determine whether to cease or not cease service of alcohol. In the case of a guest, it will be the members’ responsibility to advise his or her quest.
The Board of Governors encourages each member to abide with this policy and assume responsibility not only for themselves but also their guests. Should a member be present when alcohol service is refused to another member or guest, the Board requests your full support of the staff’s decision. In cases such as these, offering the member a ride home would certainly help alleviate an uncomfortable situation, while simultaneously preserving the camaraderie that exists amongst the members of the Club.
Through this policy, the Board of Governors seeks to maintain the necessary level of decorum that is consistent with the operation of a social club. Any member who defies this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion, at the discretion of the Board of Governors.
